Welcome to the Mended Drum, a one room DIY home studio providing cost-effective services for other independent DIY musicians. Aimed mainly at the solo musician or those new to recording.
Recording
The Mended Drum is a one room home studio Ideally suited to solo musicians, those new to recording and small groups who would like to turn their art into professional sounding tracks. Whether you are new to recording, or an old hand, we aim to offer a completely relaxed and friendly experience. Beginners are especially welcome as we know how daunting it can be to to step into the world of recording. We can advise on song arrangement, add a wide range of instruments and effects, incorporate samples and backing tracks, add soundtracks to videos, then finally mix and master your work ready for release. Songwriting and arrangement
Have you started to write your own songs and need help to turn your raw ideas into effective, well-arranged pieces? Or are you a guitar player who would like to step onto the road to writing your own songs but don't know how? Or, would you like a song written and arranged for you to perform or for a special occasion? All of these services are possible. MDS can offer guidance, tuition and mentoring in becoming a songwriter in your own right. Whether a one-off session to build up your confidence and give you strategies and ideas in how to progress, or a series of meetings to guide and nurture you through the songwriting process, we can arrange something to suit your needs. In-person or online sessions are both possible.

Tuition
The Mended drum offers informal and stress-free tuition on a one to one basis with Sid. You could be a complete beginner to music who wants to learn to play the guitar, bass or drums; a basic guitarist who would like to take their style and ability to the next level, or maybe a potential singer-songwriter wanting to make the leap from the bedroom to live performance in front of an audience. You may also want to learn how to record and mix your own music and create your very own home studio. Tuition in all of these areas are possible and arranged to suit your own needs and goals. In-person and online sessions are both possible.
